Our Story
A Small Cattery
with a Big Heart
Fluffy Friends Cattery is a family-run home cattery nestled in Pikesville, Maryland. Since 2018 we've been raising Scottish Fold, Scottish Straight, British Shorthair, and British Longhair kittens with an unwavering focus on health, temperament, and lifelong placement.
What started as a deep love for British-type cats has grown into a considered breeding program. Our cats live in our home — not in cages or separate facilities — and are part of the family. That means every kitten born here experiences the sights, sounds, and rhythms of daily life from day one, making them confident and social companions.
We serve families throughout the Baltimore and DC metro areas, and ship nationally to approved homes when in-person pickup isn't possible. Every adoption comes with our support — not just for the first year, but for the lifetime of your cat.
Our Mission
Why We Do This
Health-First Breeding
We believe a beautiful cat must also be a healthy cat. Before any breeding decision is made, we review cardiac screening results, genetic test panels, and pedigree health histories. If there's any doubt, the answer is no — no exceptions and no compromises.
Socialization Program
From their first days, kittens are handled gently and often. They meet guests, children, and our resident cats and dogs. By the time they go home, they're curious, confident, and comfortable in active households — not shy or easily startled.
Lifetime Breeder Support
Adopting from us means you always have a knowledgeable resource in your corner. We welcome questions about nutrition, behavior, veterinary care, and anything else that comes up over the years. Our adopter community stays connected long after pickup day.
Careful Matching
We take the time to learn about your household, your lifestyle, and what you're hoping for in a cat. Then we match you to the kitten whose personality truly fits — because the best adoption is one that works for cat and family alike.
Health & Testing
Our Health Protocol
Every breeding cat in our program is tested, screened, and monitored on an ongoing basis. Here's exactly what we do.
- HCM Screening
- Annual echocardiograms performed by a board-certified veterinary cardiologist on all breeding cats.
- PKD Testing
- Polycystic kidney disease DNA testing via UC Davis Veterinary Genetics Laboratory.
- Genetic Panel
- Comprehensive breed-specific genetic disease screening through UC Davis for all breeding cats.
- Kitten Vet Checks
- Each kitten receives a full veterinary exam before going home, with a written health certificate.
- Vaccinations
- Kittens leave with age-appropriate FVRCP vaccinations, flea treatment, and deworming completed.
- Microchipping
- All kittens are microchipped prior to placement for permanent identification.
How We Raise Our Kittens
Raised Underfoot, Not in a Cage
Our kittens are born and raised inside our home. They sleep in our bedrooms, explore our living spaces, and learn that humans are safe and wonderful from the very beginning. This early, constant human contact produces kittens that are genuinely social — not just tolerant.
We have children and a friendly dog, which means our kittens are exposed to all the chaos and warmth of a real family home. They're comfortable with noise, movement, and unpredictability — exactly what life in most households looks like.
Before leaving for their new homes, each kitten has been vet-checked, vaccinated, microchipped, and has had multiple weeks of enrichment play, varied textures, and exploratory time. They arrive confident and ready.
Our Principles
What Guides Everything We Do
Health First
Every breeding cat is HCM screened by a board-certified cardiologist and DNA tested for known genetic diseases. We never compromise on health.
Early Socialization
Our kittens are raised underfoot in a busy family home. They meet children, dogs, and other cats from the first weeks of life.
Lifetime Support
When you adopt from us, you gain a breeder for life. We're here for questions, advice, and updates for as long as your cat lives.
Transparent Process
We share health records, vet check results, and genetic test certificates openly. No surprises -- just honest communication at every step.
Small & Intentional
We maintain a small cattery so every cat and kitten receives individual attention. We raise one or two litters at a time, never more.
Ethical Placement
We carefully screen every adopter family and match kittens to households where they'll truly thrive. The right fit matters more than speed.
